SPACS Story
Hi, Talofa & Pacific greetings,
I’m Olivia and I’m the proud and passionate founder of SPACS – Strive Pacific Australia Community Service.
SPACS story began in June 2021 out of passion to continue serving the community independently and within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) framework. This is after working for various organisations, Government, NGO and the welfare sector for over two decades both in Wellington, New Zealand and Melbourne Australia.
Since the introduction of the NDIS, there’s been a strong need for appropriate support and bridging the gaps in services especially for some sectors in our communities ie, Migrants, Indigenous, CALD Pacific including my own Samoan Communities.
Adjusting to Government system and Organisational changes and trying to understand and access help and support has been difficult for many participants, families, and professionals alike. In addition, struggling to understand it all when you have language and cultural barriers is a major challenge faced by those desperately needing NDIS support. I felt this was the right time to make the big move and embark on SPACS journey to help those in these situations.
It’s been an exciting journey since, being able to work together with participants and their families, NDIS, Health, Clinical professionals, support providers and community services to achieve health goals and best possible outcomes. It is by far proving we need each other for support in life to sustain wellness and happiness. It is clearly – ALL BETTER TOGETHER!
We look forward to welcoming you to SPACS and working together to get the help you need.
Warm regards,
Olivia
